The friendships in the show are integral and add depth to the story. The main leads are supportive of each other through their family situations, and the coworkers form a strong, supportive team. This makes the show even more comforting, even when the usual side characters come in to stir up trouble.

While the ending is a bit brief and leaves some scenes and resolutions wanting—understandable given the twelve-episode format—the drama still delivers a light-hearted and stress-free experience. If you’re in the mood for a feel-good, entertaining watch, Business Proposal is a perfect choice.

U-Turn on Expectations and Clichés

However, on a whim, I decided to give it another shot the following week when I was in the mood for a rom-com, and from that moment on, I thoroughly enjoyed the quirky ride it offered. The show cleverly played with and simultaneously subverted all the classic K-drama rom-com clichés, making it a fun watch.

The storyline is familiar—fake relationship turns real, rich guy falls for poor girl—but it’s the clever twists that made it engaging. The female lead isn’t a damsel in distress; she’s competent, friendly, and strong. The male lead isn’t the typical cold-hearted type; he’s a lovable and soft character. Even the father figure is funny and a bit childish, and the secondary romance is handled realistically.

The conflicts between the main couple arise from their different backgrounds, while the secondary couple’s issues stem from personality differences. This variety kept the situations interesting and entertaining.

One side plot, though, had a significant impact on the characters but was abruptly dropped as the plot progressed, leaving me wishing for some closure or explanation.

The characters were all enjoyable to follow. Seo Hye Won, who played Jo Yoo Jung, was particularly hilarious. Her over-the-top antics and random English lines with cartoonish subtitles were some of the best moments of the show. While the main cast delivered solid performances, I found Kim Min Gue’s character a bit lacking in expression. I understand he was meant to be stoic and logical, but his portrayal didn’t fully convince me.

The show embraces its over-the-top nature with funny sounds, animations, and subtitles, which, while sometimes cringe-worthy, fit perfectly with the overall tone. It’s a rom-com that doesn’t take itself too seriously, allowing viewers to enjoy it for what it is.

Even with other great ongoing dramas, this one stands out for being incredibly fun and easy to binge-watch. You’ll find yourself laughing for hours and swooning over the romance, whether it’s the first lead or second lead. The passionate chemistry between the couples makes this drama irresistibly swoon-worthy.

It’s a classic in terms of clichés, but the show manages to elevate them to a whole new level. Each scene might feel familiar, but it’s delivered in a way that’s fresh and enjoyable, thanks to its impeccable comic timing. Once you start watching, you’ll be hooked and craving more—that’s how captivating this show is.

I decided to watch this drama because it was the latest K-drama on Netflix with just one episode out, and the trailer seemed so fun. After enduring a six-week wait for the finale, I can confidently say this drama made March 2022 incredibly enjoyable. I’ll miss it a lot!

Both the first lead and second lead couples bring their own charm, and there’s no need to compare them. Each couple’s chemistry adds balance and variety to the romance, showing different facets of love. The friendship between Young Seo and Hari is heartwarming—true examples of being there for each other no matter what.

OVERALL: This drama is a delightful, relaxing watch that will give you plenty of laughs and occasionally remind you of your single status—lol.

Tae-Mu’s initial treatment of Ha-Ri as a mere means to an end raises concerns, but their evolving relationship eventually grows more sincere, albeit with some unresolved issues.
